Anxiety Therapy in Iowa
Compassionate support for anxiety, worry, fear and stress.
Anxiety is a normal part of life, but when worry, fear, or stress becomes difficult to manage, it can begin to affect daily life, relationships, school, work, and overall well-being.
Anxiety can look different from person to person. You may find yourself constantly worrying, overthinking situations, avoiding things that make you uncomfortable, feeling restless or on edge, or experiencing physical symptoms such as muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, or a racing heart.
At Iowa Family Counseling, we provide a supportive and collaborative space to better understand anxiety, develop practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. Therapy is personalized to your needs, experiences, and goals.
When Anxiety Starts Getting In The Way
How Therapy Can Help
Therapy provides a space to explore what's contributing to anxiety and develop skills for responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations in healthier ways.
Depending on your individual needs and goals, therapy may help you learn to recognize patterns that contribute to anxiety, develop practical coping and grounding skills, increase emotional awareness, reduce avoidance, improve communication, and build greater confidence in managing stressful situations.
Our therapists draw from a variety of evidence-based and person-centered approaches and work collaboratively with you to determine what fits your needs.
Our Approach
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to anxiety therapy. At Iowa Family Counseling, treatment is personalized to your needs, strengths, experiences, and goals.
Our therapists may incorporate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, play-based approaches for children, mindfulness and other evidence-based strategies. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine which approaches are appropriate for you.
Anxiety can affect people at any stage of life. Iowa Family Counseling works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety and related concerns.
For children and teens, therapy may incorporate developmentally appropriate activities, play, creativity and skill-building while helping young people better understand and communicate their emotions. When appropriate, therapists may also collaborate with parents or caregivers.
For adults, therapy can provide space to explore patterns of worry, stress, avoidance and other concerns while developing strategies that support everyday life and relationships.
