Meet Lily (she/her/hers)
Lillian "Lily" joined Iowa Family Counseling in 2025 and brings a focus on mental health care in rural Iowa. As a rural resident, she understands the importance of accessible mental health care in strengthening a community.
Lily graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in psychology and obtained her master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Buena Vista University. She works with clients across the lifespan, including children (ages 5+), adolescents, and adults. Lily offers sessions in the office or at school (for qualifying districts) for children and adolescents, as well as in-person or telehealth counseling to adults across Iowa.
Lily approaches therapy with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients heal from past experiences and identify and work toward their goals. She integrates techniques from play therapy, existential therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy, tailoring her approach to fit your needs.
As a counselor, Lily views you as the expert of your own life and is excited to learn and deepen her understanding of your lived experiences. She believes in the importance of providing a safe and warm environment and is willing to address any issues or concerns with a strong emphasis on taking a non-judgmental approach.
When Lily is not working, she enjoys gardening outside in the summer months. During cold weather, she likes tending to her houseplants and eating her favorite food, ramen. She also enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, and roller skating.
