Depression Therapy in Iowa
Compassionate support for depression, low mood and emotional well-being.
Understanding Depression
Depression can affect much more than mood. It can influence your energy, motivation, sleep, relationships, concentration and ability to enjoy the things that once mattered to you.
Everyone experiences depression differently. Some people feel persistent sadness, while others may feel disconnected, irritable, exhausted or simply unlike themselves. Everyday responsibilities can begin to feel harder than they used to.
At Iowa Family Counseling, we provide a supportive and collaborative space to explore what you're experiencing, develop helpful coping strategies and work toward meaningful change.
When Depression Starts Getting In The Way
How Therapy Can Help
Therapy can provide a supportive space to understand patterns that may be contributing to depression and develop strategies for managing difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences.
Depending on your needs and goals, therapy may help you develop coping skills, recognize unhelpful thought patterns, improve emotional awareness, reconnect with meaningful activities and relationships, strengthen communication and identify changes that support your overall well-being.
Our Approach
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to depression therapy. At Iowa Family Counseling, treatment is personalized to your needs, strengths, experiences and goals.
Our therapists may incorporate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, play-based approaches for children and other evidence-based strategies. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine which approaches are appropriate for you.
Depression Therapy for Children, Teens & Adults
Depression can affect people at any stage of life. Iowa Family Counseling works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing depression and related concerns.
Therapy is tailored to each person's age, developmental needs, experiences and goals. For children and adolescents, treatment may also incorporate developmentally appropriate activities and caregiver involvement when appropriate.
