Shelby Zahradnek

Administrative Assistant & Intake Specialist

"Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it's having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome." Brene Brown

Meet Shelby

Iowa Family Counseling welcomed Shelby Zahradnek to our team in February of 2022. Shelby is a Kalona native and a proud Mid-Prairie alumni that loves her hometown and is proud to work in a job where she is able to help the people in her community.

Shelby’s experience working with students and children in a variety of settings made clear to her that there is a great need for mental health education and services, especially in rural areas.

This awareness is part of the reason that she has chosen to pursue a degree in Art Education from the University of Iowa while also being on the social emotional learning track through the Teacher Leadership Center. Additionally, Shelby is active with the University's chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) on Campus as well as CHAARG at University of Iowa- a group dedicated to helping college women develop a social, supportive, and healthy relationship with movement and exercise.

Shelby is so proud that her hometown has been so supportive of Iowa Family Counseling and their mission and is so excited to be part of the team. In her role as Administrative Assistant, she will likely be the first person that you speak to or correspond with when reaching out to Iowa Family Counseling.Shelby is happy to answer questions that you may have and will help guide you through the process of getting started with services at Iowa Family Counseling.

When Shelby is not working or studying, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She loves attending community events, family game nights, and creating things. We are so happy to have Shelby on our team!
